SABRA LANE: The Coalition will wait until the Senate inquiry outcome before deciding if it will pass or block the scheme. The Opposition’s emissions trading scheme spokesman, Andrew Robb.
ANDREW ROBB: No one that I know, on either the side of the Greens, the Greens side of the argument, or the industry side of the argument, no one supports what the Government currently has on the table. We will take our time to properly consider what’s there. We will look to improve it or put an alternative. And when we’re ready, we will then put that in front of the Australian people.
SABRA LANE: Mr Robb says the proposed scheme would harm the economy.
ANDREW ROBB: It will, if it’s introduced, seriously cost thousands of jobs. It will kill investment and at the same time won’t see any substantial reductions, if any, in carbon dioxide emissions.
