Portfolio Media Releases, Emissions Trading Scheme
Topics: Emissions Trading Scheme.
PRESENTER (ELIZABETH BYRNE): But the Coalition’s climate change spokesman Andrew Robb says he hopes the inquiry will examine other carbon reduction measures.
ANDREW ROBB: We, with the Greens, are interested in exploring, what sorts of schemes can maintain the great economic strength of the economy and at the same time seriously attack the issues of climate change. Now Kevin Rudd himself said before the last election, that he would introduce a scheme which would make deep cuts in carbon emissions and at the same time would not disadvantage any of our export or import competing countries. Now on both those counts, the scheme the government has on the table, demonstrably fails.”

PRESENTER: But Andrew Robb has likened the Government’s scheme to the famous failed Leyland vehicle.
ANDREW ROBB: They’ve worked long and hard and produced a P-76. If people are as old as I am they can remember it was a real lemon.
