Goldstein Media Releases, Community, Funding
Bayside’s non profit organisations are encouraged to apply for funding as part of the 2009 Volunteer Grants program. Grants between $1,000 and $5,000 are available to assist the work of volunteers.
Since 2001 community organisations have been able to apply for similar funding. Previously such grants have been used for the purchase of equipment such as first aid kits, gardening equipment, microwaves, and printers, or to cover the cost of petrol.
“This funding provides necessary support for local voluntary organisations who contribute so much to our community.
“The 2009 grants will play an even more important role given the current economic slowdown. Our community organisations play an integral part in helping out those going through a tough time,” Andrew Robb, Federal Member for Goldstein, said.
The Coalition was the first to recognise the importance of volunteers in our society – distributing over $62 million to more than 29,000 non profit organisations between 2001 and 2007. Earlier this year, seventeen Bayside community organisations shared in over $37,000.
