Goldstein Media Releases, Community, Funding
Bayside and Glen Eira community organisations are encouraged to apply for the latest round of grants available from Telstra as part of the Telstra Connected Seniors program. The program is designed to help senior Australians learn more about technology.
Under the program, grants from $1,000 to $5,000 are available for local not-for-profit organisations with a membership base comprised primarily of seniors. Grants from $5,000 to $50,000 are also available for state wide organisations.
“Given the rapid rate at which technology advances it can often be very difficult to keep up.
“Local community organisations and seniors should definitely take advantage of this great opportunity and learn more about operating computers, navigating the internet or using mobile phones,” Andrew Robb, Federal Member for Goldstein, said.
The program allows organisations to run training courses for their members and introduce them to new technology in ways which are fun, hands on and solve everyday problems.
Training material is provided to assist organisers and trainers, and funding is intended to cover the cost of equipment or to pay organisers and trainers for their time.
The application period is narrow, opening Thursday 25 February 2010 and closing Friday 5 March 2010, so be sure to get in quick.
