The Australian Government has announced the first stage results of the 2004 Aged Care Approvals Round which is specifically targeted at community care places in Victoria.

2 Anglican Aged Care facilities in Goldstein have been awarded extra places.

15 places going to Benetas EACH Southern and 42 to Hurlingham both of (68 Union Street East Brighton).

The increased funding from the Government for these places is over $1 million.

This will allow for a further 57 Goldstein residents to be cared for in their own home.

These places are specifically allocated to people with dementia.

These places are the first instalment of an estimated 27,900 new aged care places to be allocated across Australian over the next three years as part of the Australian Governments Investing in Australia’s Aged Care: More Places, Better Care package.

This initiative is part of the Governments National Strategy for an Ageing Australia.

Statements from Andrew Robb:

“In most cases people dearly want to stay in their own homes as they get older, with the stability and comfort of being in the home that you have long known. For this reason I am delighted that Goldstein has received funding to enable a further 57 people to be cared for at home.”

“I am very pleased that Anglican Aged Care can continue its wonderful care of the aged in this region.”
