Conservation work carried out by Australia’s voluntary organisations will get a welcome boost under the Australian Government’s programme of Grants to Voluntary Environment and Heritage Organisations.

The Federal Member for Goldstein, Andrew Robb, today urged all voluntary conservation groups to apply for grants so that they are able to continue their invaluable work.

“Australian’s today are so conscious of looking after their environment and it is our many environmental groups which make a huge difference in raising awareness, education and practically implementing environmental strategies” said Andrew Robb.

“Here in bayside we live in a stunning environment, and it is up to all of us to ensure that we do all that we can to keep it this way.”

“The Government is pleased to support these vital groups in continuing their work. I encourage all bayside voluntary community groups to apply.”

The Australian Government has provided more that $7 million in funding to environmental and heritage organisations. This funding has been used towards activities such as habitat recovery native plants and animals, water quality improvement, and tackling introduced pests and biodiversity.

Eligible organisations can apply for grants of up to three years to a value of up to $10,000 per year.
