Goldstein Media Releases, Community, Funding
Andrew Robb, the Federal Member for Goldstein, was today pleased to announce a $150,000 funding boost for Home and Community Care programs in Goldstein.
The Federal Government’s Home and Community Care funding is directed at providing services to older Australians who choose to stay living in their own homes rather than moving to assisted accommodation or retirement villages. The range of services provided for under this program include domestic assistance, social support, home maintenance, nursing, counselling, transport and meals on wheels.
“Many Australians choose to stay in their own homes as they get older, this funding allows older Australians the choice to be able to remain in their homes when they otherwise may not be able to” said Andrew Robb.
“Staying in a home they know, and the communities where they have links is of vital importance, we are committed to providing the facilities and services which will allow older Australians to make that choice with greater peace of mind that they will be cared for.
“I am very pleased that these service providers, which include the Bayside City Council, Hampton Rehabilitation Centre, Girrawheen Community Service, MOIRA Inc and Sandybeach Community Co-operative Society Ltd have received the extra funding to continue and improve their services for local residents.”
Home and Community Care services is a joint Federal and State Government initiative, with the FederalGovernment contributing 60% of funding across Australia. This financial year the Federal Government’s national allocation for Home and Community Care programs is more than $857 million, an increase of 8.33% over previous years funding.
