PeopleWorx Social Enterprise today won a funding boost of $267,100 from the Federal Government as part of the Local Answers programme.

Andrew Robb, the Federal Member for Goldstein today warmly congratulated PeopleWorx, which is run by Southern Family Life, for receiving the funding increase.

“The funding will help 1,005 people in Highett, Hampton East and the surrounding neighbourhood strengthen community and job participation and improve self sufficiency” said Andrew Robb.

“The Local Answers funding is part of the ongoing commitment to help build stronger families and stronger communities.

“This funding is vital to help so many people in our community to realise their potential, and give greater meaning and fulfilment to their lives.

“For example some of this funding will be spent to provide long term unemployed with a structured program of volunteering, training and work experience in the retail sector in order to help them to progress from welfare, to being employed and in the workforce improving not only their financial circumstances, but their self worth and self esteem.

“Southern Family Life has a long history of helping people in the Bayside community to improve their lives and I heartily congratulate them on their further success.”

The Local Answers initiative is part of the $490 million Stronger Families and Communities Strategy aimed at giving communities the power to develop local strategies and solutions to the issues facing people in their communities.
