Goldstein Media Releases, Funding
Sandringham based arts company, HIT Productions have received a grant of more than $65,000 to take their play ‘Barmaids’ on tour.
‘Barmaids’ written by Australian playwright Katherine Thomson is the story of two mature age barmaids who work at The Arms Hotel in an Australian port town. The play focuses on the challenges that women face in everyday life in terms of relationships, love, ageing and being valued for their work.
“I would like to congratulate HIT Productions on receiving this grant” said Andrew Robb, the Federal Member for Goldstein.
“This funding will enable local performing artists and producers to showcase their work to a much broader audience, and is a recognition of the professionalism and skill that they bring to their craft.”
“Quite often regional centres miss out on cultural experiences due to the high cost involved in touring to these remote locations. This funding will ensure that rural and regional Australians also get the opportunities for cultural experiences that we take for granted in urban areas.”
Playing Australia is the Australian Government’s national touring performing arts funding program. This latest round of grants will fund a wide variety productions including drama, opera, dance, acrobatic and music productions.
