Information for Teachers and Schools
Andrew Robb, the Federal Member for Goldstein, today congratulated 5 local groups and schools for their involvement in some great new water saving initiatives, and sharing in more than $200,000 of grants from the Federal Government under the Community Water Grants programme.
“We hear daily in the news about the serious water shortages that we face here in Melbourne, and it is up to all of us to do our bit to reduce our water usage,” said Andrew Robb.
“The three local schools, Star of the Sea College, Sandringham Primary School and Kilvington Baptist Grammar, are really to be congratulated on their involvement in the Community Water Grants programme.”
“These projects will make significant waters savings and will help raise the students awareness of how precious a resource water is, and that we all need to work together to conserve it.”
“The three schools will all be using the Federal Grant to upgrade amenities blocks to install dual flush and slow flow device toilets. Small changes like this can save up to 1,442,670 litres of water per year.”
“The Rotary Club of Beaumaris has also received $44,138 to install rain water tanks to collect water to flush their toilets and water their oval. This project will save around 900,000 litres of water per year.”
“The St Agnes Church in Highett will also be using their funding to install water tanks for irrigation and flushing.”
“I congratulate all these groups for their involvement in the Community Water Grants”
