41 bayside community groups will share in a funding boost of $83,690 to purchase much needed new equipment and resources.

Grants of up to $3,000 have been awarded to a range of local community groups from sporting clubs to school parent associations to senior citizens’ clubs.

“This funding recognises the work of volunteer organisations, allowing them to purchase equipment to make their work easier, safer and more enjoyable,” Andrew Robb, Federal Member for Goldstein said,

“Some of the equipment funded under this programme is as simple as a portable sunshade for the Kiwanis Club of Brighton, gardening tools for the Highett Neighbourhood Community House or a portable wheelchair ramp for the Hampton RSL Bowls Club,

“These items are integral to the ongoing work of volunteers in our community but sometimes even the best fundraising efforts simply can’t cover the cost of a new mower or a dishwasher,” Andrew Robb said.

“The bayside area has a great sense of community and that is in part due to the ongoing work of our local groups and clubs. I hope that these grants will help them to continue on their work and their contribution to our local area,” Andrew Robb said.

All applicants will be notified in writing as to the outcome of their application, with a full list of successful organisations per state available at www.facsia.gov.au
