Bayside’s iconic beaches are precious and must be carefully cared for so we can continue to enjoy all they have to offer.
Federal Member for Goldstein, Andrew Robb MP, encourages local community groups and individuals to apply for funding under the Community Coastcare program to assist in maintaining and improving our great beach assets.
“Our local beach environment is a vital community asset and we must do all that we can to continue to ensure the sustainability of our coast line,” said Mr Robb.
“Many local community organisations do great work in ensuring that our beach environment remains robust and healthy and they deserve support.”
Small grants of up to $50,000 are available for projects which protect and rehabilitate coastal waterways, prevent coastal erosion, enhance local skills and knowledge of the coast, protect nesting sites and protect indigenous cultural landscapes.
Large scale activity grants of up to $250,000 are available for coastal projects of national significance with high conservation value.
“The Community Coastcare funding program provides a golden opportunity for local environment and beach user groups to improve the environment they work in and love,” said Mr Robb.
Local community groups who are interested in applying for funding can contact Mr Robb’s electorate office on 9557 4644 or alternatively, further information can be found at www.nrm.gov.au/funding/coastcare. Applications for funding close on 25 July 2008.
