Goldstein Media Releases, Community
Federal Member for Goldstein, Andrew Robb MP, is urging all local residents to support Australia’s biggest community tree-planting event - National Tree Day.
Planet Ark’s National Tree Day will take place on Sunday 27 July, with a Schools Tree Day on July 25.
Andrew Robb will be joining local students on Schools Tree Day on 25 July at 10:30am in the Ricketts Point Hinterland to plant trees and make an important contribution to the local environment.
“We are lucky in Bayside to have such natural attractions as the Bay, its beaches, its foreshore and many parks and gardens,” said Mr Robb.
“By taking part in National Tree Day, community members can become actively involved in the care and preservation of our wonderful Bayside landscape in the most practical way possible.”
Since 1996, more than 1.8 million volunteers have planted nearly 12 million native trees at over 20,000 locations Australia-wide.
Started by not-for-profit environmental organisation Planet Ark, the event aims to inspire, educate and recruit Australians to care for our unique environment.
“I urge as many people as possible to join me in taking part in National Tree Day. Your contribution will help Planet Ark reach its target of planting one million trees and shrubs,” said Mr Robb.
