The Hon Andrew Robb, Member for Goldstein, congratulates Goldstein resident, Joanna Honeychurch, on receiving funding to undertake further rowing coach training.
Joanne’s grant is part of the Sports Leadership Grants for Women Programme, initially put in place by the Coalition Government in 2002. The Programme has provided grants to more than 17,500 women to the value of $2.4 million.
Grants are provided to help Australian women undertake accredited sports leadership training in coaching and officiating, sports administration, sport governance and sports management.
Grants to individuals of up to $5000, and to organisations of up to $10,000, are available and the five key areas recipients can apply under include:
- High performance coaching and officiating
- Indigenous women
- Women in disability sport
- Women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- Women in general sport leadership
Mr Robb said, “As part of the Coalition Government, I was always pleased to see this support for women in sport, and I am pleased this programme has continued to operate”.
“Sport plays a big role in Bayside and I hope we will see the Rudd Government undertake to continue this valuable Programme into the future”, he said.
