On Sunday 29 March 2009 the Bayside community is encouraged to reach out to those literally closest to them – those next door, over the back fence, and across the road. A beer, a barbeque, or just a cup of tea shared amongst neighbours, is an ideal way to spend this year’s Neighbour Day.
“Friendly neighbours are what make the Bayside community such a great place to live.
“I encourage people to introduce themselves to new residents, wave hello over the fence, or invite around those who live alone.
“The community you want starts at your front door,” Andrew Robb, Federal Member for Goldstein, said.
Since its establishment in 2003, Neighbour Day has been held on the last Sunday in March. This year the celebration will be strengthened through support from Leader Newspapers.
“Given the difficult economic times we are facing, it has never been so important to look after one another.
“A coffee and chat can do wonders,” Andrew Robb, Federal Member for Goldstein, said.
