Goldstein Media Releases, Law and Order
Federal Member for Goldstein, Andrew Robb, encourages bayside community organisations to apply for grants under the Australian Government’s National Community Crime Prevention Programme (NCCPP).
“This programme provides funding for grass roots projects designed to enhance community safety and crime prevention by: preventing or reducing crime and anti-social behaviour, improving community safety and security, and reducing the fear of crime,
“Bayside is a great to live and work but unfortunately, some members of the community, and local organisations, have to deal with crime such as graffiti, vandalism or hooning. These grants will provide local organisations with assistance to tackle these problems directly” Andrew Robb said.
Grants of up to $500,000 are available to incorporated, non-for-profit community organisations and local government associations.
Applications should address the objectives in one or more of the following priority areas:
• property crime such as robbery, domestic burglary and motor vehicle theft;
• early intervention projects with families, children and schools;
• youth crime;
• violent crime, including domestic and family violence;
• drug-related crime;
• alcohol-related violence;
• fraud and scams;
• crime prevention initiatives for seniors (personal and financial security);
• fear of crime;
• anti-social behaviour; and
• security related infrastructure.
“Well-planned, localised crime prevention strategies can not only prevent crime and victimisation, but also contribute to the social well-being of the area.
“I encourage groups to consider this funding opportunity to help implement local solutions to local problems,” Andrew Robb said.
Guidelines and application forms are available from www.crimeprevention.gov.au
Applications close 28 June 2007.
