Portfolio Media Releases, Infrastructure, Funding
The typical, predictable actions of the Rudd Government in misrepresenting my comments yesterday are part of a broad campaign to silence anybody who asks legitimate questions of this Government.
Under Kevin Rudd’s Government there are no answers to questions – from the Prime Minister’s embarrassing need to make himself sound even more important on the world stage to the Government’s bungling on the unlimited banking guarantee.
This government expects to coast through without any scrutiny.
If anyone asks questions about infrastructure funding they are accused of being against nation building; if anyone asks questions about the government’s response to climate change, they’re labelled a sceptic; if anyone has any questions about immigration, they’re called a racist; and if anyone questions any of their economic documentation or reports, they’re accused of attacking Treasury officials.
This behaviour is part of a broad campaign to silence any legitimate questions.
The Opposition reserves the right to ask legitimate questions about how well thought through Government programmes are, how it will affect individuals, how it will affect jobs and businesses and people’s lives.
My comments yesterday were not directed in any sense at the Treasury. The Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook (MYEFO) is a Government document - not a Treasury document.
My comments have been deliberately misconstrued as an attack on Treasury by the Government as an attempt to silence anybody who asks legitimate questions of the Government.
This pattern of obfuscation is a far cry from the pre-election promises that the buck would stop with Kevin Rudd.
